Penny Simkin, PT, CD(DONA)Penny Simkin, PT(DONA)
Penny Simkin is a physical therapist who has specialized in childbirth education since 1968. She has prepared an estimated 9,500 women, couples and siblings for childbirth and has assisted hundreds of women or couples through childbirth as a doula. Her latest products for birth educators and doulas are The Road Map of Labor, a birth video entitled The 3Rs: Relaxation, Rhythm, and Ritual and her DVD, Comfort Measures for Childbirth.

Warren P. Newton, MD, MPH
Dr. Warren Newton has served as the Executive Associate Dean for Education at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine since September 1, 2008. As the Chief Education Officer he is responsible for the curriculum and programs for medical students, continuing medical education and he contributes to the direction of Graduate Medical Education at UNC Hospitals.

Linda Smith is a lactation consultant, childbirth educator, author, and internationally-known consultant on breastfeeding and birthing issues. As a Lamaze-certified Childbirth Educator and a retired La Leche League leader, she provided education and support to diverse families for more than 35 years. Linda was a founder of IBLCE, founder and past board member of ILCA, and is a delegate to the United States Breastfeeding Committee. She owns the Bright Future Lactation Resource Center.

Amy Romano is a midwife and expert in evidence-based maternity care. She manages Lamaze International’s award-winning research blog, Science & Sensibility. A frequent contributor to online and print journals, Amy’s article, “A Changing Landscape: Implications of Pregnant Women’s Internet Use for Childbirth Educators” appeared in the Fall 2007 issue of The Journal of Perinatal Education and a follow-up article will appear in the Journal’s 50th anniversary issue. Robin Weiss has authored more than 10 books and 3,000 Web articles on pregnancy and birth. She is the current editor of ICEA’s International Childbirth Education Journal. Robin is a past recipient of Lamaze International’s prestigious Elisabeth Bing Award and the President’s Award, as well as the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services’ Forum Award.

Beverly Robertson is the National Director of the Pregnancy and Newborn Health Education Center at the March of Dimes. She leads the social media mission messaging team: tweeting on @marchofdimes, @babytips and @modbev; managing the blogging team for News Moms Need and the Nacersano blog; and hosting the monthly #pregnancychat on Twitter. Beverly conducts Webinars and workshops, and speaks on the benefits of social media public engagement.

Amber Naslund is a social media and marketing practitioner, and the Director of Community for Radian6 social media monitoring. Amber blogs at Altitude Branding, focusing on community, communication and the rising tide of social business.
